Matt joined Crimson Partners in 2018. He is responsible for sourcing and evaluation of new investment opportunities, as well as maintaining the firm’s relationships with its equity and lender partners.
Prior to joining Crimson Partners, Matt worked at KD Capital Management – a value-oriented hedge fund which he co-founded in 2014. At KD Capital, Matt led the firm’s investment research activities with a focus on making investments in technology, media, and telecom (TMT), energy, and financial services companies. Before his time at KD Capital, Matt was an Analyst for Bema Capital Group, a long/short equity hedge fund focused on the energy sector. Additionally, Matt worked as a Research Associate at FBR Capital Markets providing sell-side coverage of real estate investment trusts (REITs), and gaming and lodging companies. Preceding FBR, Matt worked as an Associate and Fund Manager in a net-lease real estate development and acquisition fund at SNS Property Finance.
Matt earned a B.A. in History and Spanish from the University of Virginia in 2006, and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business in 2012.
